VST says “Server error, please try again”
This error means the plugin couldn't reach the activation server. It's almost always caused by a firewall or antivirus blocking the outgoing request — not a problem with your license key. Two fixes below, try them in order.
Disable firewall & antivirus temporarily
Windows Defender Firewall or your antivirus may be intercepting the activation request. Disable them temporarily, activate the plugin, then re-enable them.
Windows Defender Firewall
Start → Windows Security → Firewall & network protection → select your active network → toggle Microsoft Defender Firewall off.
Antivirus (e.g. Avast, Bitdefender, Norton…)
Right-click the antivirus icon in the system tray → Disable / Pause protection → try activating again.
Remember to re-enable both once activation is done.
Switch to your phone's hotspot
Some Wi-Fi routers have a built-in firewall that blocks uncommon outgoing connections. If step 1 didn't work, this is likely the cause — connecting to a mobile hotspot completely bypasses your router and has solved the issue for other users.
How to connect to hotspot
- 1.On your phone: Settings → Mobile Hotspot → turn it on
- 2.On Windows: click the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar → connect to your phone
- 3.Open your DAW and try activating the plugin again
Still not working?
Make sure your DAW is not itself blocked by the firewall. Some firewalls block specific apps — check that your DAW (Ableton, FL Studio, Logic…) has outbound internet access allowed.
